The Facility
Rowe Stables is situated on approximately 30 acres of land in Ingham County, on the outer edges of Okemos, Michigan. Okemos is a wonderful city with plenty of places to eat and shop. Approximately 2 miles from the stable there are many hotels to choose from if you are an out of town client. We are located close to MSU and Lansing, the capital of Michigan.
- In 1973 Rowe Stables opened our Okemos location and started boarding, training and giving lessons. We have prided ourselves on the happiness and health of our horses, and the ability of our students for the past 41 years at this location and another 30 years at our previous location in Diamondale, Michigan.
- Our indoor riding arena is the biggest in the area measuring 80x200 and steel constructed. It is raked as needed and watered by hand to prevent any slippery spots. It is resurfaced on a regular basis to maintain the good quality footing.
- One regulation outdoor arena and a fenced regulation small dressage arena with sand footing provide the perfect opportunity for riding outdoors.
- The barn is wood constructed with 35+ 12x12 stalls. Each stall has a window to provide natural sunlight and fresh breezes to each horse directly. Turn out is available to all horses depending on their needs. We have two herds with large pastures divided in half so they always are provided with grass in the summer months.
- For those horses that cannot be turned out with other horses whether a stallion or a horse that doesn’t play well with others we provide three large in/out stalls with large attached pastures fenced with three strands of electric tape for safety. Horses are given enough turn out to provide them with a happy lifestyle, dependant on each horse's individual mental and physical needs.
- Horses are provided hay 4 times daily to promote their grazing needs, grain is provided twice daily and special needs horses are arranged individually and special supplements are fed at ‘no charge’ when supplied by the owner.
